Wajah Tum Ho Review By Vishal Verma, Glamsham Editorial
The wajah (reason) for WAJAH TUM HO is simple. The title is borrowed from the third installment of the hit erotic thriller series HATE STORY and since it has remained as an earning proposition for the makers, another thriller with erotic tones – WAJAH TUM HO is churned out.
So is the Vishal Pandya (HATE STORY 2 and 3 previous) directed movie able to fulfill the appetite of the target audience who are looking for some sex, some suspense and some thrill.
Let’s figure out.
Director Vishal Pandya pens the script to Sameer Arora’s story that demands a degree of suspension of disbelief from the thinking audience but it does offer some thrill and oomph to the ‘target’ audience.
Opening with the murder of a police officer going live on a TV channel, Rahul (Rajniesh Duggall) – the head honcho of Global Time Network gets questioned by a righteous police officer Kabir (Sharman Joshi). Rahul’s legal head Siya (Sana Khan) is living a steady life with her ‘jiya’ (love of life) of Ranvir (Gurmeet Chaudhary).
Post the sensational live murder, the life of Siya and Ranvir change dramatically as Ranvir who is also a legal expert representing the State police force fights the case against Siya’s boss Rahul. As the police starts investigations, in a dramatic turn of events another murder goes live and the rest is how the ‘wajah’ (reason) for the murder going live by hacking the top TV channels satellite server is unveiled.
The easy, simple screenplay offers no chance for director Vishal Pandya to earn credit as a filmmaker with a difference. All the known tried and tested elements are repeated and that may amuse serious watchers of cinema but for the ‘target’ audience the director manages to make the first half interesting and keeps the audience guessing.
However, the second half looses steam considerably in the thrill quotient. Sherlyn Chopra tries her best to balance the loss of thrills with her oomph quotient during the final reels but honestly the hurried unwinding of the sequences in spite of a last reel twist fails to make the desired impact. Vishal’s previous works where more intriguing than this one and this turns out to be a major drawback.
Glaring loopholes like a top TV channel gets hacked and a murder goes live but the channel doesn’t go off air or care to change the event going live on screen is hard to digest. Similarly, the crime screen looks like a well designed studio but the police force is unable to figure it out. These are just a couple of examples.
Technically okay with adequate production values. The movie is strictly okay in the acting department as well. Sana Khan looks beautiful but she needs to brush her acting skills, Gurmeet Choudhary’s abs make better impact then his acting, Sharman Joshi is fine but he has nothing groundbreaking to do. He is a better actor from the lot but it is sad to see such talent getting reduced. Rajniesh Duggall fails to add anything to his acting repertoire and just repeats himself. Sherlyn Chopra and Zarine Khan provide the required oomph quotient without any complain.
On the music front, it was a cakewalk for Mithoon, Abhijit Vaghani and Meet Bros to remix the classics like ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass’, ‘Aise Na Mujhe Tum Dekho’ and thankfully they have done it without harming the original.
The point is whether WAJAH TUM HO offers enough WAJAH (reason) for the makers to continue the hit legacy forward? Well, that we leave it up to the time (read its target audience) to decide as they are the right ‘wajah’ for the series that has continued its winning run and travelled so far.
